Please do not submit confidential, privileged, highly sensitive, or strategically significant information through a general website form, chat, social-media message, or unsolicited email unless Carrizo Global Law has requested that information.

Communications with a person considering retaining the Firm may, depending on the circumstances, be subject to professional obligations applicable to prospective clients. However, merely sending unsolicited information to the Firm does not necessarily create an attorney-client relationship or give the sender all protections associated with an existing client relationship.

Initial inquiries should therefore be limited to information reasonably necessary for the Firm to understand the general nature of the matter and perform preliminary intake and conflict review.

This approach is particularly appropriate under D.C. Rule of Professional Conduct 1.18. The D.C. Bar explains that duties may attach when a lawyer agrees to consider whether a lawyer-client relationship should be established, while a person who simply communicates information unilaterally without a reasonable expectation that the lawyer is willing to discuss representation may not qualify as a prospective client.

Carrizo Global Law PLLC is a law firm based in Washington, D.C.
